What This Means
More coins means more choice, but also that your favorite small-cap coin might not be listed everywhere. Gate.io lists more than 4 times as many coins as OKX or Bybit.
How We Count
We count distinct base assets from each exchange's public API, not trading pairs — and we leave out tokenized stocks (e.g. Bitget's r-prefixed equities, the xStocks/Ondo families on MEXC and Gate.io): they trade like equities, not crypto, so counting them would overstate how many coins an exchange lists. For example, if an exchange lists both BTC/USD and BTC/EUR, we count Bitcoin once. This gives a realistic picture of how many different coins you can buy.
